What you missed today

Good evening!

A wild lesson from Amazon today: if something’s not working, double down on it.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  🧑‍🚒 Wildfires Are Endangering West Coast

California, Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada are all facing major wildfires, with three burning in just Southern California. The fires are endangering thousands of homes and businesses, and is typical for this season – but California has seen nearly 3x as much acreage burn this year than during all of 2023.

2.  😅 Save Yourself 30 Days Of Stress

3. 🇮🇳 Samsung’s India Production Workers Are Striking

Hundreds of workers at Samsung’s Sriperumbudur plant in southern India have disrupted production this week by striking for higher wages. The plant employs around 1,800 people and is the smaller of Samsung’s two Indian factories, but still contributes 20-30% of the company’s $12Bn annual revenue.

4.  🎉 Congrats: You’ve Been Accepted

Off the grid emergency? No problem… if you’ve got T-Mobile. The carrier is working with SpaceX to let people text and make phone calls via satellite when they’re in the middle of nowhere. The company confirmed it’s successfully sent a test emergency alert via a Starlink satellite – the first time this has ever happened.

6.  🍔 BurgerFi Filed For Bankruptcy

Another one bites the dust. Fast casual chain BurgerFi filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today after months of dismal financial performance. While it’s filing for bankruptcy protection, all of its corporate locations will operate normally, and franchise-owned locations are exempt from the filing.

7.  🛒 Amazon Is Opening New Fresh Supermarkets

Despite 22 Amazon Fresh locations nationwide sitting unoccupied, Amazon has announced plans to open new Fresh grocery stores in California, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia. The renewed focus will increase Amazon’s footprint to 40 stores in an attempt to compete with Walmart, Target, and Aldi.

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
