What you missed today
Good evening!
We have to apologize for an error in yesterday’s subject line: Lufthansa was fined a record $4 million (not billion). Always a good reminder that this newsletter is (still) written by real humans who make mistakes (though we try not to).
Anyway, here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🔋 AWS Is Investing $500M In Nuclear Power
Big tech is loving nuclear power. Amazon Web Services announced plans to follow Google and Microsoft into nuclear power by investing more than $500 million in three projects with Dominion Energy, Virginia’s utility company. The projects include the development of a small nuclear reactor near Dominion’s existing North Anna nuclear power station.

3. ⛏️ GM Agreed To Invest $625M In Joint Venture To Mine EV Battery Materials
Everyone wants to know the secret to powering batteries. General Motors has agreed to establish a joint venture with Lithium Americas Corp., where the automaker will supply $625 million in cash and credit to the Canadian mining business. The deal is crucial to GM’s plans to profitably grow its all-electric vehicle business by securing raw materials, such as lithium.

5. 🚀 Airbus Plans To Cut Up To 2,500 Jobs
European aerospace giant and Boeing competitor Airbus has announced plans to slash up to 2,500 jobs in its defense and space division due to a “complex business environment” including rising costs and “rapid changes in warfare.” The layoffs are expected to be completed by the middle of 2026 and make up 1.7% of its total workforce.
6. 📺 Netflix Is Planning For More Ads & Price Hikes
How much can Netflix push its subscribers until its numbers swing up? Well, we might find out soon. Netflix is set to report its Q3 earnings tomorrow afternoon but has expected a potential dip in subscribers as paid memberships start to stagnate after its password-sharing crackdown effort. Analysts predict the streaming company may increase prices (again), push more ads (again), and lean into more live events.
7. 🛑 FTC Adopted ‘Click to Cancel’ Rule
If you offer up subscriptions for your customers, listen up… the US Federal Trade Commission adopted a final rule today that makes businesses offer up easy cancellation methods and reduce sneaky auto-enrollments. Under the new rule, any subscription that can be signed up for online must be able to be canceled online.
Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
