Yesterday, the first day of Amazon’s Prime Day holiday, sales boomed. U.S. consumer spend was 11.7% YoY growth with consumers spending $7.2 billion on the first of two deal days. 5. 👨‍💼HSBC Named Third CEO in Less Than 8 Years

Global bank HSBC appointed its Chief Financial Officer Georges Elhedery as its next CEO today. Elhedery will replace outgoing CEO Noel Quinn starting Sept 2, the bank’s third chief executive in less than eight years.

6.  🏨Las Vegas Mirage Closed Today

No, you’re not seeing things. As of today, there will be one less Mirage in Las Vegas as the famous hotel and casino closes after 34 years in business. The 3,000-room resort is undergoing a three-year renovation, set to reopen as Hard Rock Las Vegas in 2027.

7.  🍷Wine Consumption is Falling Globally

And major producers of the adult grape juice are adjusting accordingly. Pernod Ricard, one of the world’s largest alcohol makers, announced the sale of seven wineries in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain to focus on growing its champagne and premium spirits labels amidst a 27-year low in wine consumption globally.
