Google has agreed to a new investment of over $1 billion in generative AI startup Anthropic. The new round of funding adds onto Googleās past investments of $2 billion in Anthropic and 10% ownership stake in the Claude chatbot startup, as well as a large cloud contract between the two companies. Today, the Stargate Project was announced ā a US government-led half-a-trillion-dollar AI infrastructure plan alongside OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and Abu Dhabi-based AI investor MGX. Hereās the problem: the stock ticker āMGXā is for biotech company Metagenomi. The mixup likely led to Metagenomiās 33% stock jump this morning. (Quartz)
7. š Wearables May Soon Get Powered Through Human Skin
This is such a cool use of emerging tech. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon just debuted āPower-Over-Skin,ā a new technology that allows for electrical currents to travel through human skin to power things like blood sugar monitors, pacemakers, and even consumer wearables like fitness trackers.
