3. ⛽️ Chevron is Cutting up to 20% of Workforce as Part of Cost-Cutting Plan

Major oil company Chevron is looking to reduce its cost by between $2-3 billion before the end of 2026. As part of the effort, Chevron is planning to slash 15-20% of its workforce which roughly translates to over 9,000 layoffs. The company posted a loss for Q4 as refining margins have fallen and its pending acquisition of Hess is tied up in arbitration with Exxon Mobil. (CNBC)

Contrary to popular belief, Amazon doesn’t sell everything. To fill in the gaps, the company is beta-testing a new shopping feature in its app that will include products it doesn’t sell in search results, then send users to the brand’s website to purchase them. (The Verge)

If you’re not incredibly entrenched in online culture, this might not make any sense to you… but Duolingo’s green owl mascot is, apparently, dead. The US language-learning app made an announcement in which it appears the owl has fallen victim to a corporate rebrand. MyFitnessPal, a popular food logging app, is getting into the AI game. Following the acquisition of a startup called Intent, MyFitnessPal is adding an AI-generated meal planning feature for subscribers at $100 annually. (Engadget)
