What you missed today
Good evening!
Is your New Year’s Resolution to go into the office more? Well, another popular company is now requiring it.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 📞 ChatGPT is Available For Calls & Texts
OpenAI is giving users a new way to talk to its viral chatbot. US users can dial 1-800-CHATGPT or message it via WhatsApp to access an “easy, convenient, and low-cost way to try it out through familiar channels.” To start, callers will get 15 mins free per month to talk to the bot. (CNBC)
2. 🎯 Launch High Converting Ad Campaigns In Minutes
Every second you spend tweaking designs is a sale you’re not making. CreativeOS changes that, giving you 3,000+ pre-designed templates for ads, emails, and landing pages so you can launch campaigns in minutes, not weeks.
Instead of spending hours making ads from scratch, Creative OS has you covered. Just paste your chosen template into Canva/Figma and customize it for your brand. It’s that easy!

3. 🤖 New Anthropic Study Showed AI Can Deceive
Don’t panic (yet) but according to new research from AI company Anthropic, AI models can pretend to have different views during training when in reality keeping their original preferences and not really being open to change. (TechCrunch)
4. 💵 Federal Reserve Lowered Interest Rates Again
The US Federal Reserve lowered interest rates today by a quarter percentage to a range of 4.25-4.5%, but they’ve warned that additional rate cuts in the new year might be few and far between thanks to stubborn inflation. (NPR)
5. 🧑💻 GitHub Launched a Free Version of its AI Copilot
Until now, most developers had to pay a monthly fee – starting at $10/mo – to use its popular Copilot code completion/AI pair programming tool. Now, Microsoft-owned GitHub is launching a free version of the tool which will also now ship by default with Microsoft’s popular VS Code editor. (TechCrunch)
6. 🏢 AT&T is Requiring Workers to Return to Office 5 Days/Week
AT&T is joining Amazon on the return-to-office bandwagon. Starting in January, the telecom giant is requiring all its office workers to head back to the office five days a week. Formerly, the company had implemented a hybrid schedule, requiring just three days a week of in-office work. (Quartz)
7. 📦 Amazon’s Getting New Packaging
And it put a lot of thought into it. All Amazon products are now being rolled out with new sustainable packaging including the Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV. The recycled fiber paper packaging uses 60% less ink and includes tactile-marked QR codes for instructions instead of paper. (The Verge)
