What you missed today
Good evening!
Just when you thought yesterday’s news about the Albertson-Kroger merger couldn’t get any worse…
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 📈 Inflation Rose 2.7% in US
To be more specific, the Consumer Price Index – a key gauge of inflation – rose 2.7% last month relative to November 2023. The rise in inflation in November mostly impacted categories such as groceries, gas, and new cars. (CNBC)

3. 😵 Meta’s Apps Went Down Today
It wasn’t just you. Meta’s family of apps including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads experienced a technical issue today, resulting in some users being unable to access the services. Their ad platform went down as well causing chaos for marketing & ad teams everwhere. (CNBC)
4. 😌 Insanely Good SEO for Insanely Low Prices (Yes, Really)
Most SEO agencies will charge you $5,000 a month, promise the world, and deliver nothing but a confusing report and disappointment. Ranked is the exact opposite.
These guys are almost too good to be true, but they’re actually amazing. We use them ourselves, and the results speak for themselves:
Real SEO that works — weekly content, site optimization, and quality backlinks
Full transparency — clear deliverables and easy-to-read reports
No BS contracts — all plans are month-to-month, starting at just $99/month
I know what you’re thinking: “$99? Is it a scam?” Nope. Just a team that figured out how to make SEO actually affordable and effective.
5. 😮 Albertsons Sued Kroger After Blocked Merger
If you can’t get what you want, might as well burn it all down? That’s grocery chain Albertson’s approach after a federal judge blocked its $25 billion merger with Kroger. Albertsons has not only called off the merger but also sued Kroger for allegedly causing the merger to be blocked. (CNN)
6. 🚚 Hyundai’s Electric Air Taxi Startup is Moving HQ to CA
While some unnamed tech companies are moving out of California, Hyundai’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) startup is heading to the Golden State. Supernal is moving its global headquarters from Washington, D.C. to California and has asked 5% of its total workforce – roughly 40 people – to relocate. The company’s engineering headquarters will be in Irvine and R&D headquarters will be in Fremont. (TechCrunch)
7. 🥊 Chili’s & Applebee’s Are Feuding
Chili’s has been offering a $10.99 promotion that’s been a big hit in bringing in consumers. Now, Applebee’s is launching its $9.99 “Really Big Meal Deal” which the company implied on X is better than Chili’s because it’s $1 cheaper and includes more. It’s now a classic case of social media managers getting edgy with snarky replies back and forth. (CNN)
