5. 🛒 Instacart’s AI is Hiking Prices as Much as 20%
Maybe AI isn’t so helpful all the time. Online grocery delivery service Instacart has reportedly used AI to charge different prices for the same item, up to 20% more for different shoppers, according to a new investigation from Consumer Reports and Groundwork Collaborative. Its AI gauges how “price sensitive” customers are, meaning how much grocery stores can charge for an item before a shopper decides not to purchase it. (CNN)
6. 🤖 Mistral AI Released its New Autonomous Software Engineering Agent
Software engineers, take note. French AI startup Mistral AI just released Devstral 2, a 123 billion parameter open-weights coding model designed to work as part of an autonomous software engineering agent. The model achieves a 72.2 percent score on SWE-bench Verified, putting it among the top-performing open-weights models. (ArsTechnica)
7. 📺 Cable Channel Subscribers Grew For the First Time in 8 Years
It would appear cable isn’t dead after all. New research from analyst MoffettNathanson found that paid TV subscribers grew last quarter for the first time since 2017. That count includes cable companies, satellite companies, and virtual multichannel video programming distributors like YouTube TV and Fubo. (ArsTechnica)
