What you missed today
Good evening!
Big news day today for people who like silly little beverages.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. š¢ U.S. Might Be Hit By Major Port Strike
Across ports from Maine to Texas, the International Longshoremenās Association (ILA) representing dock workers has been threatening to go on a full strike. If they do, practically all industries will be impacted, including produce, cars, and pharmaceuticals. A stroke would also impact agricultural exports, such as soybeans. The Biden Administration has until September 30 at midnight to agree with the union before they begin a strike.

3. š³ DOJ Sued Visa For Debit Card Monopoly
The U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit today accusing Visa of illegally monopolizing the debit card market. The DOJ alleges that the card company has abused its dominant position to force businesses to use its network instead of competitorsā.

5. š„¤ Coca-Cola Is Already Pulling Its Newest āPermanentā Flavor
Just six months after introducing its new permanent āSpicedā flavor, Coca-Cola is discontinuing the production. The short lifespan is most likely from lackluster sales due to a lack of awareness about the new offering and confusion about the flavor (not actually spicy). Donāt worry though, Coca-Cola is planning to introduce a new flavor in 2025.
6. š¤ Erewhonās New Influencer Drink Is Withā¦ Chevrolet?
As an Erewhon fan, I just couldnāt get over this. Erewhon, a luxury, health-conscious grocery store chain in LA, is known for their collaborations with influencers including viral smoothies with Hailey Bieber and Emma Chamberlain. Its latest collab is with car manufacturer Chevrolet to create the Equinox EV Electric Juice, inspired by Chevyās all-electric Equinox EV. Would you drink it?
7. šļø Dupe Economy Is Growing in China
Call it āpingti,ā āknock-offs,ā or ādupes,ā Gen Z workers in China are all over high-quality replicas of branded goods. The popularity of these products is soaring as consumer confidence in China is at a historic low and the economy is showing signs of slowing. This is a major shift for Chinese shoppers as Western goods from famous brands have long held allure and interest.
Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
Popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee, or MKBHD, is facing a lot of pushback over his new app launch. A lesson to take from this? Building in public is subjective and thereās a fine line between being boldly transparent and delivering an unfinished product.
