1. 🔥Dow & S&P 500 Closed At Record Highs
Investors are excited for fall(ing rates). The Dow closed today up 1.9% (743 points), its best daily percentage gain since June 2023, while the S&P 500 gained 0.6%, a record high, and the Nasdaq rose 0.2%. The surge, alongside strong corporate earnings and consumer spending, is a sign of optimism that the Fed will begin cutting rates in September.

5. ☕️ Amazon is Ramping Up Return-to-Office Efforts
Amazon wants to stop corporate employees from “coffee badging” – the practice of swiping into the office just to grab coffee & leave. Select teams were notified via Slack that the company is keeping tabs on how many hours employees spend in the office and will require employees to be in for certain durations for their attendance to count.
6. 🛰️SpaceX Will Spend $680M To Crash International Space Station
NASA has had plans to deorbit the International Space Station (ISS) since 2022, but last month, they selected SpaceX to be the one to do it. SpaceX will spend $680 million to take down the ISS in mid-2030.
7. 😔Warner Bros. Discovery is Getting More Layoffs
Just a week ago, Warner Bros. Discovery-owned news network CNN laid off about 2.9% of its 3,500 employees. This week, more workers are getting pink slips throughout the company’s production, business affairs, finance, and Max departments.
