What you missed today
Good evening!
Would you buy a car via Amazon’s Alexa?
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🛒 $25Bn Kroger-Albertsons Merger Has Been Blocked
A federal judge has temporarily blocked the $25 billion merger between grocery giants Kroger and Albertsons over concerns it would impact competition. The move is a major deal for the FTC who strongly opposed the merger. The proposed deal would have created the largest grocery chain in the US. (Quartz)
2. ❗️How Customer Data Can Make Your Brand Shine
Without a single, reliable source of data, it’s tough to personalize customer experiences and drive growth. Manually updating lists or relying on outdated information only slows you down.
Twilio Segment solves this by centralizing all your customer data and syncing it in real time across systems.
It helps you track user actions, sync data records automatically, manage leads, and automate lifecycle stages, all within HubSpot.
The entire process is smooth, with no coding required.

3. 🤩 Google Revealed its ‘Breakthrough’ Quantum Chip
Yesterday, Google unveiled ‘Willow,’ its latest quantum computing chip that the company said performed significantly better than its 2019 predecessor. As a result, Alphabet shares rose 6% today after being praised on social media by Elon Musk and Sam Altman. (CNBC)
4. 😌 Launch high-converting ad campaigns in minutes, not weeks!
Creative OS provides 1000+ ready-to-use templates for ads, emails, and landing pages. No design skills? No problem. Just pick a template, copy it into Canva, and go. Save hours, test faster, and scale with designs that convert.
5. 🚖 GM is Exiting the Robotaxi Market
General Motors has dropped over $10 billion on its robotaxi unit, Cruise, since 2016. But now, it’s calling it quits on the driverless ride-hailing service and folding the unit into its broader tech team. GM cited an increasingly competitive robotaxi service, capital allocation priorities, and major time and resource burn as to why it’s cutting the service. (CNBC)
6. 🚗 Amazon is Expanding Into Online Car Sales
Who will be the first person to order a car via Alexa? We might find out soon. Amazon launched Amazon Autos this week, an eCommerce business that lets customers find, order, and buy new cards, trucks, and SUVs from dealerships in 48 US cities including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, LA, and NYC. (TechCrunch)
7. 🛩️ Alaska Airlines Outlined its $1Bn Profit Plan
Remember when Alaska Airlines merged with Hawaiian Airlines a few months ago? We’re now seeing the impact of the merger with an ambitious incremental profit goal of growing by $1 billion through 2027. Part of reaching that goal involves new nonstop daily flights between Seattle and Tokyo starting in May 2025, and enhanced ‘premium’ offerings. (Quartz)
Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
Let’s be honest: building a business is hard. Small business strategist Jessica Lackey suggests that you might want to reframe the way you approach the things you haven’t done (yet).
