Starbucks’ CEO Laxman Narasimhan resigned to make way for a new leader. Brian Niccol, to be more specific – Chipotle’s former CEO. You may know Niccol for his recent defense of Chipotle’s portion sizes, after the internet went after the fast-food chain for increasingly smaller meals.
6. 🏚️ Big Lots is Closing 4% Of Stores
Discount retailer Big Lots is closing over 300 locations across the U.S. – roughly 4% of its stores – after warning it could go out of business during its most recent earnings report in June.
7. 💷 King Charles Banknotes Are a Hot Commodity
New banknotes featuring King Charles entered circulation in the United Kingdom on June 5 – the first time the Bank of England has ever changed the monarch on its notes. Data now shows that first versions of the banknotes sold for 11.7x their face value in an auction by Spink & Sons, raising £914,127 ($1.2 million) for 10 UK charities.
