What you missed today

Good evening!

I think I’m going to stay away from onions at restaurants for the next week or two… just in case.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  🧅 Burger King & Taco Bell Pull Onions After McDonald’s E. coli Outbreak

Maybe it wasn’t the beef after all? Burger King and Taco Bell owner Yum Brands have pulled onions from select restaurants after an E. coli outbreak at McDonald’s led to 49 confirmed cases and one death. U.S. Foods has issued a recall for onion products produced by Taylor Farms, though it’s unclear if this move was in response to the recall.

6. 👜 Merger Between Coach & Michael Kors Has Been Blocked

A federal judge blocked Tapestry’s acquisition of Capri today, ending the potential marriage of America’s two largest luxury houses into one company. The merger would’ve combined Tapestry’s Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman with Capri’s Versace, Jimmy Choo, and Michael Kors.

7.  📻 Poland Is Replacing Radio Journalists With AI ‘Presenters’

OFF Radio Krakow in Poland let its journalists go weeks ago and has now announced plans to relaunch the program with AI-generated “presenters” in which it’s “the first experiment in Poland in which journalists ... are virtual characters created by AI.”

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day

Be honest: are you setting ambitious goals? The most common failure for teams is in execution, but you can’t achieve big things if you don’t plan for the right level of goal.
