What you missed today
Good evening!
If your company offers meal credits or any kind of gift card perk to employees, you should probably only be using it for its real purpose. Unless you want to risk your job, apparently.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 💰 Hurricane Milton & Helene Losses Expected To Surpass $50Bn Each
Like the historic hurricanes before them, Helene and Milton have caused so much damage that experts predict losses to amount to over $50 billion per storm. In Helene’s case, 95% of the damage was not insured, meaning that victims are not only digging out of the storm’s physical damage but also financial challenges.
2. 🌟 The BEST Strategy For BFCM 2024!
The best way to maximize your ROI this holiday season is with UGC and micro-influencers. This builds trust & engagement with your audience, making them ready to shop during BFCM.
You should also include UGC in your product pages to instill more trust in potential buyers. Brands like TUSHY, Cocokind, and Native make the most of BFCM with minisocial.
They connect you with top micro-influencers and handle everything for your BFCM campaign.
3. 🔎 Google Named New Search & Ads Boss
Just a little switcheroo. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a blog post today that longtime Google executive Nick Fox will be the company’s new search and ads boss. The former boss, Prabhakar Raghavan, will be moving into the role of Chief Technologist after 12 years of leading Google teams.

5. 🍽️ Meta Fired Staff For Misusing Meal Credits
Meta gives staff members daily allowances of $20-25 meal credits as a perk to incentivize workers in offices without a cafeteria. Well, staffers in LA had been using the $25 Grubhub or UberEats credits to purchase various household items. Some had even been abusing the system for awhile by pooling money together with other employees or getting meals sent home (though credits were meant for in-office use).
6. 📺 Amazon Will Enter Live News Coverage
Amazon announced plans to host an election night special anchored by Brian Williams. The one-night special will be the company’s first move into live news coverage on Prime Video, with election results and analysis starting at 5pm ET on November 5. Amazon emphasized it will be a “non-partisan presentation” with information from a variety of third-party news sources.
7. 💪 Noom Uses AI-Powered Body Scans To Prevent Muscle Loss
Noom, a psychology-based digital health care platform, wants GLP-1 users to understand one thing: the popular weight loss drugs often lead to lean muscle mass loss. The company launched a feature on their app today that allows users to generate a 3D scan of their body (from a 10-second smartphone video of their body) to help track and combat muscle mass loss.
