What you missed today
Good evening!
Did you buy anything this week during Prime’s Big Deal Days? If so, you contributed to making Amazon history.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🤯 TD Bank’s Drug Cartel Money Laundering Leads To $3 Billion Fine
Yeah, I think that’s the most wild headline I’ve written in a while. Regulators found that TD Bank failed to monitor more than 90% of transactions between January 2018 and April 2024, enabling more than $670 million in money laundering. The fine includes a $1.3 billion penalty from the US Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network – a record fine for a bank – and $1.8 billion to the US Department of Justice.
2. 💰 Bring in more sales without added efforts!
Too often, teams get stuck manually tracking leads or juggling multiple tools that don’t communicate well with each other. How much time would you save if your CRM could streamline these tasks?
One tool I’ve found helpful is Pipedrive. You can manage deals, track sales activities, integrate with 350+ apps, and automate follow-ups without chasing leads manually.
The best part? There’s full visibility into where every deal stands, allowing you to focus on closing more deals. Maybe that’s why their customers average 28% more deals in their first year.

3. 🔓 Fidelity Confirmed Data Breach Of Over 77k Customers
One of the world’s largest asset managers, Fidelity Investments, has confirmed that over 77,000 customers had personal information compromised during a data breach between August 17 and 19. The breach affected customers’ social security numbers and driver’s licenses and was confirmed in a filing with Maine’s attorney general.

5. 🔥 AMD Launched AI Chip To Rival Nvidia
The competition heats up. AMD launched a new artificial intelligence chip today, taking direct aim at Nvidia’s data center GPUs. The new Instinct MI325X, a name that totally rolls off the tongue, will compete against Nvidia’s Blackwell chips, which start shipping early next year.
6. 📦 Amazon’s Second Prime Day Made Records
Amazon’s second Prime Day event has come to a close, but not before making history as the company’s largest October shopping event to date. During the two-day event in 19 countries, Amazon says Prime members saved over $1 billion across millions of deals.
7. 📉 Ikea Revenue Fell After Price Slashes
Last year, Ikea dropped prices on roughly 2,000 products to be more accessible to inflation-weary customers. While the announcement initially sparked an increase in orders, the honeymoon period appears to be over. Sales slipped for the first time in four years by 4% to $49.3 billion for Ikea’s FY2024.
Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
Here’s a hot take for you: maybe we should burn the playbooks. We’ve become too used to following rules and steps to find success, when maybe we should just lean into the messiness of building a business.
