People are apparently “doom spending” — shopping for things they can’t really afford in a bid to feel better about the economy and the world in general. Not the smartest move, but can’t blame anyone for trying to cope. Read more here.

3. 👩🏼‍⚖️ Judge Dismissed TikTok Case

The state of Indiana attempted to sue TikTok over child endangerment but a judge dismissed it today, saying she lacked jurisdiction. It was the first serious attempt by a state to sue TikTok. Read more here.

4. 🤷 Meta Tried New Legal Tactic

Speaking of big tech and legal actions, Meta’s latest strategy in its fight with the FTC was to call the organization unconstitutional. This comes after the FTC decided Meta failed to fully comply with an order from it. Read more here.

5. 🏠 Mortgage Rates Dropped (Again)

Mortgage rates have dropped for the fifth week in a row, falling to an average of 7.22% for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage. But don’t get too excited — the Fed is meeting soon to see if rate hikes are needed, which usually has an influence. Read more here.

The average credit score for Gen Z is 674, compared to 680 for millennials and 736 for Boomers.
