Good Evening!

Huge news day for millennials who never wanted to leave the 2010s (see: headlines about Fitbit and Bumble).

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1. 🗣️ OpenAI Unveiled 3 Audio Models For Real-Time Voice Tasks

OpenAI wants to make voice-based software agents more conversational and capable of completing tasks in real time. At least that’s the premise behind the three new audio models it just debuted for its developer platform. The launch of the API moves the ChatGPT-maker beyond transcription toward agents that can act during live conversations. (Reuters)

3. 🔮 Kalshi Doubled its Valuation in 5 Months to $22Bn

Wonder if Kalshi predicted this… the prediction market startup just announced a $1 billion Series F round, valuing the company at $22 billion – double the $11 billion it nabbed just five months ago after raising a $1 billion Series E. The latest round was led by Coatue with participation from Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, and Paradigm. (TechCrunch)

4. 👀 This is How Your SaaS Competitors Are Earning Placements

SaaS client: “We want more visibility in AI search and Google.”

dofollow: “Then your brand needs authority beyond your website.”

SaaS client: “So rankings alone aren’t enough anymore?”

dofollow: “No. Buyers are discovering vendors through AI, trusted sites, and brand mentions across the web.”

That’s why SaaS teams are investing more in off-page authority.

dofollow.com helps SaaS brands earn placements on trusted SaaS and industry websites that influence both traditional and AI-driven search.

5. 🚀 China’s Moonshot AI Raised $2Bn at a $20Bn Valuation

Beijing-based AI lab Moonshot AI just raised about $2 billion at a valuation of $20 billion to help continue develop its popular Kimi series of open-weight large language models. The round, which was led by Chinese food delivery company Meituan’s VC arm Long-Z Investment, shows the growing interest in the nation for open source AI models. (TechCrunch)

6. ⌚️ Google Unveiled a Screenless Fitbit Air to Replace its Original Product

Do consumers want wearables with less screens? Well, Google thinks so. Its newest wearable, the Fitbit Air, doesn’t have a screen but does have a collection of health sensors that pipe data into its new Google Health app. The move goes back to Fitbit’s roots, which didn’t have screens, and jumps on the success of screenless wearables like Whoop and Hume.
