Good evening!
Apparently there’s a dill pickle-flavored ramen now? Who’s gonna try it with me? 👀
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 😳 Meta is Sueing AI ‘Nudify’ App for Violating Ad Policies
Meta is taking legal action after AI “nudify” app Crush AI, an app capable of creating sexually explicit deepfakes, reportedly ran thousands of ads across Meta’s platforms. In a blog post, the social media company stated that it repeatedly removed the app’s ads for violating its policies, but claims that the company continued to place additional ads anyway. (CNN)
2. 🤯 GA4 Is Wasting Your Marketer's Time
Google Analytics 4 was supposed to be the future of web analytics... but for Ecom brands? It’s been a confusing, bloated mess. Between bot traffic, tagging nightmares, and reports only a data scientist can understand, it’s a full-time job just to understand your data.
Heatmap.com's new web analytics tool changes all that:
✅ Real-time, easy-to-read analytics
✅ Built specifically for Ecom metrics & behaviors
✅ 2-minute setup with zero dev work
✅ Flat $29/month pricing, no scaling costs
GameStop announced a $1.75 bn convertible note offering to help fund more Bitcoin purchases and the trading card market. The retail chain stated it would use proceeds for general corporate needs, “including investments consistent with its investment policy.” Unfortunately for GameStop, the announcement triggered a steep stock drop—over 20%—as investors reacted to rising debt, potential share dilution, and a pivot toward cryptocurrency. 5. 🤝 A New Partnership is Uniting Generative AI and Toymaking
It seems in this new age of AI, no industry is going untouched. Mattel is the latest company to partner with OpenAI, bringing generative AI into its iconic toy brands and entertainment franchises. The Barbie-maker said it will incorporate AI tools like ChatGPT Enterprise into its design and development process to spark creativity and streamline workflows. They’re aiming for a product release later this year. (TechCrunch)
6. 💰 Chime Opened at $43 in Nasdaq Debut
And to think this company almost went under in 2016! Banking app Chime made a stunning Nasdaq debut, opening at $43 a share (nearly 60% above its $27 IPO price) after raising roughly $864 million from a mix of new and existing stock offers. The enthusiastic market response underscores investor confidence in the resurgence of fintech IPOs. (CNBC)
7. 🆘 Spotify, Google, and Other Services Were Down for Thousands
Cloudflare confirmed a service disruption this afternoon after a Google Cloud outage triggered widespread internet disruptions, affecting platforms like Spotify, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, AWS and even AI tools. The company explained that failures in Google Cloud’s identity services had led to authentication errors across its network, though many systems were already recovering. However, intermittent issues were expected to persist as caches refilled and retry processes finished. (CNN)
