What you missed today

Good evening!

Busy day today in NYC for my Growth Hack event. But apparently, that didn’t stop certain stocks from being all over the place.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  📉 Dollar General Shares Sank Nearly 30%

Low-income consumers are feeling pinched by this economy, leading to lower-than-expected sales for budget-friendly retailer Dollar General. The lackluster earnings led to shares sinking nearly 30% in afternoon trading.

2.  ⏳ One Last Chance to Transform Your Business!

3. 📈 Best Buy Stock Jumped 14%

Meanwhile, technology retailer Best Buy posted better-than-expected earnings, leading shares to jump over 14%. So, make of that what you will. Lower-income consumers aren’t doing well while mid-income consumers are still buying, maybe?

5. 💬 ChatGPT’s Weekly Users Have Doubled

More than 200 million people use ChatGPT each week, according to OpenAI – double the 100 million weekly active users reported last November. Expect that number to climb as students, a major user base of ChatGPT, return to school and use the chatbot.

6.  🛑 X Has Been Blocking NPR Links

If you posted a link to an NPR story recently, you may have seen decreased engagement. That’s because X has been marking some links to the news organization as “unsafe” and providing users with a warning typically applied to malicious links.

7.  🛻 Ford Scaled Back DEI Policies

Another one bites the dust. Ford announced changes to some of its diversity and inclusion policies, joining a growing cohort of companies altering or removing their approaches amidst online pressure.

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day

Every brand these days seems to be taking the approach of being immortal and staying around forever. While that’s admirable, is it possible that not every brand should last forever?
