1. 🤗 Nvidia Agreed to Buy Hugging Face For $12.9Bn

Three days after we told you Hugging Face was fielding mystery bids, Nvidia has a name on the tag. The chipmaker agreed to buy the open source AI hub for $12.9 billion, The Information reported, though Business Insider says nothing is signed yet. Neither company has commented... which, for Nvidia, is unusually quiet. Founded in 2016, Hugging Face is where developers go for open models. (TechCrunch)

3. 📣 OpenAI is Putting Ads in ChatGPT's Free & Go Tiers in India

Turns out OpenAI's free tier was always going to cost you something. The company will start showing ads to ChatGPT Free and Go users in India, where it claims over 100 million weekly actives, kicking off with 50 brands alongside agencies WPP and Omnicom. An ad manager lands next month with a daily minimum of ₹725, roughly $7.60. Ads already run in the U.S. and Europe. (TechCrunch)

5. 🦾 Anthropic Built a Standard For AI Agents to Operate Machines

Anthropic would like its models to get out more. The lab unveiled the Model Hardware Standard, a spec meant to let AI agents operate physical machines rather than just browsers and spreadsheets. It is out as a research preview for now, and Anthropic says it plans to open source it later... which is one way to make your protocol the default. (CNBC)

6. 🛒 YouTube Creators Can Now Tag Amazon Products For Commissions

YouTube just turned every haul video into a checkout line. Eligible U.S. creators can now tag Amazon products in shorts, long-form videos and livestreams through the Shopping Affiliate Program, earning a cut of any sale. Amazon supplies a curated catalog, and auto-tagging can scan recent uploads for eligible items. Returns claw the commission back, naturally. Daily earnings show up in YouTube Studio. (TechCrunch)

7. 😴 Google's New Fitbit Air Plays Pokémon Sleep

Google has found the one workout you are already doing: sleeping. It announced a special-edition Fitbit Air that syncs with Pokémon Sleep, the 2023 game where resting on schedule builds your Snorlax's 'Drowsy Power' and lures more Pokémon. The band tracks movement, heart rate and cardio load by day, then sleep duration and quality overnight. Pokémon turns 30 this year. (TechCrunch)
