Good Evening!

Oracle just made about 3,000 Tuesdays considerably worse, and that isn't even the day's biggest story.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1. 🕷️ OpenAI's Astra is the First Model to Cross its 'Critical' Cyber Threshold

Turns out OpenAI built something that picks locks. The lab says its forthcoming Astra model is the first to meet its “critical cybersecurity threshold,” meaning it can find unknown flaws in computer systems and exploit them with no human guidance. Astra reportedly aced ExploitBench and dug up two zero-days on a tougher in-house version. Access to those capabilities will stay limited at launch... (TechCrunch)

2. 🤖 Every Month You Spend on AI Tools Without a Real Strategy Is Money You Won't Get Back

Most B2B marketing teams are paying for AI and still running on guesswork. Christopher Penn, Chief Data Scientist at Trust Insights, is joining Vende's B2B Growth Show on Sept 9th to show you how to stop experimenting and start building workflows that actually move the needle. 3. ✂️ Oracle is Cutting 3,000 India Jobs as Microsoft PIPs 500

Oracle picked a rough way to open September. The company is cutting roughly 3,000 roles in India, while Microsoft has reportedly put 400 to 500 of its own India staff on performance improvement plans. Both moves land in the same bucket: tech firms shovelling budget and headcount toward newer priorities, and quietly working out who doesn't fit them. (Quartz)

4. 💡Mini-Growth Insight: Tackling the Tedious Tasks

Think of all the hours you spend during the work week drafting. Emails, Slack messages, client reports–the list goes on.

Wispr Flow frees up all of those hours. It turns your voice into ready-to-send text anywhere (yes, anywhere) you type. Just speak naturally, and Flow professionally formats everything for you. It even cleans up filler words (something most voice-to-texts don’t do).

5. 🎨 Google Launched Google Pics to Take On Canva

Google would like you to stop designing and start typing. Google Pics is a new image creation and editing tool running on the company's Nano Banana model, rolling out over the coming weeks to most Workspace customers plus Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. It shows up inside Docs and Slides first, aimed at the everyday poster-and-social-post work Canva and Adobe Express own. (TechCrunch)

6. 📸 GoPro is Selling Itself to Starman Optical For $285M

GoPro's next act involves considerably fewer helmets. Photonics outfit Starman Optical is merging with the action camera pioneer for $285 million, paying shareholders $1.14 a share, leaving them roughly 10% of the combined company and wiping out $92 million of debt. GoPro stays public and reportedly chases consumer, commercial and defense markets. YouTuber Markiplier just grabbed an 8.5% stake. (TechCrunch)

Florida has seen enough of Flock. The state's transportation department says it will stop using license plate readers on its highways, citing “concerning reports of misuse,” and has 30 days to pull the cameras down. Texas moved first, ordering agencies to stop funding them after a Lufkin officer was indicted on 100 felony counts over unauthorised database searches. (TechCrunch)
