Good Evening!
Also today: Google's AI safety team is getting a new home... in the lobbying department.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. ⚖️ Anthropic Beat the Pentagon's Supply-Chain Risk Label in Court
Turns out branding Anthropic a national security threat required more than a memo. A federal judge in California ruled Thursday that the Trump administration's supply-chain risk designation was illegal retaliation for the company's criticism, and “arbitrary and capricious.” Judge Rita Lin noted the Pentagon had also floated invoking the Defense Production Act on the company... which would make it essential, not dangerous. (TechCrunch)
2. 🧠 Your Marketing Team Just Got a Data Scientist
Here's what your new employee can do:
- Analyze 300+ journeys and surface winning patterns
- Model budget scenarios and predict outcomes
- Identify underperforming spend in seconds
- Diagnose what changed this quarter
Plus, they don’t take a salary, don’t need training, and there’s no hiring process.
Attribution App’s AI MCP connects any MCP-compatible assistant directly to your attribution data. Ask any question, and get real answers backed by real data.

3. 💊 Walmart Reached a Deal With the DOJ Over Opioid Prescriptions
Walmart would quite like this one behind it. The retailer settled the Justice Department's opioid case, which alleged in a 2020 complaint that the Arkansas giant had repeatedly violated the federal Controlled Substances Act since 2013 by filling invalid prescriptions and sitting on suspicious orders. Terms were not disclosed, and Walmart admitted nothing. Its roughly 4,600 pharmacies keep dispensing. (CNBC)
4. 🚨 Your CDP Is Likely Broken if...
Every report feels off. Your marketing team questions the data. Sales doesn't trust the attribution. And now you're supposed to feed this mess into AI systems?
GrowthBench specializes in diagnosing and fixing broken CDPs without blowing up your operations. They have more experience than any other firm because they've done nothing but Martech consulting for years (and they’ve seen it all).

5. 📺 Apple TV is Raising its Monthly Price to $14.99
Apple TV has now raised prices four times in four years, which is its own kind of subscription model. Monthly goes from $12.99 to $14.99, the annual plan climbs from $99 to $119, and the Apple One bundle hits $21.95. Netflix and Peacock hiked this year too, and RAM shortages driven by AI data center demand are not helping anybody. (TechCrunch)
6. 🕵️ Google is Moving its AI Safety Team Into its Lobbying Arm
Nothing says “we take this seriously” quite like a reporting-line change. Google is reportedly relocating roughly 90 people from its AI responsibility unit out of Google DeepMind and into global affairs, the division that handles lobbying and public policy, per the Wall Street Journal. The move starts in September, shifting safety oversight out of the lab that builds the models and over to the team that talks to regulators. (Quartz)

7. 📧 Brave Built Disposable Email Aliases Into its Browser
Brave just handed Chrome holdouts a reason to defect: burner inboxes. Click an email field on any site and the browser offers a throwaway alias that quietly forwards to your real address, so retailers and ad tech giants like Meta cannot match you across their databases. Brave says it scans for spam, then deletes the message from its servers. (TechCrunch)
