1. 🎮 EA Sports is Getting a $55 Billion Buyout

Electronic Arts (EA) is being acquired in a $55 billion all-cash leveraged buyout, led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. EA will go private once the deal closes (which is expected to happen in early 2027), making it the biggest leveraged take-provate in history. EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson will stay at the helm, and the company will retain its headquarters in Redwood City. (The Verge)

Right now, Instant Checkout supports single-item purchases from U.S Etsy sellers, with plans to support over a million Shopify merchants soon. Etsy’s stock rose about 16% after the announcement, while Shopify’s jumped about 6%. (CNBC)

5. 🙅 OpenAI is Putting Parental Controls on ChatGPT

Over the weekend, OpenAI tested a new safety routing system in ChatGPT, and rolled out new parental controls starting today. The routing system is designed to detect emotionally sensitive conversations and automatically switch to GPT-5 thinking, which the company claims is the best-equipped model for high-stakes safety work. The models were trained with a safety feature that allows which allows them to answer sensitive questions in a safe way, rather than simply refusing to engage. (TechCrunch)

6. 🧸 Toys R Us is The Retail Chain That Won’t Die

After filing for bankruptcy in 2017 and being liquidated in 2018, retail chain Toys R Us is back, and just in time for the holiday season. The store plans on opening up 10 new stores across the country, as well as 20 seasonal holiday shops before the end of quarter four. Seven of the ten locations are already listed on the website, but it’s unclear where the other locations or the seasonal shops will be. (Quartz)

7. 🛑 YouTube Is Going to Reinstate Formerly Banned Accounts

YouTube announced that it will allow creators who were terminated from the app for spreading misinformation about the Covid-19 pandemic and 2020 election to rejoin the platform. A rep for the company stated that any account that violated policies that are no longer in effect will have an opportunity to be reinstated. (TechCrunch)
