OpenAI announced that it’s releasing a new version of ChatGPT-5 to its AI coding agent, Codex. The new model (GPT-5-Codex) spends its “thinking” time more dynamically than previous models, and could spend up to seven hours on a coding task, depending on its complexity. The market for AI coding tools has become extremely saturated in recent years, and the upgrade aims to make Codex more competitive with rival coding products like Claude Code, Anysphere’s Cursor, and Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot. 2. 🎮 The Next Gaming Franchise Might Not Be on Console - It Might Be in a Headset
With $184B in global revenue, gaming is the dominant force in entertainment.

5. ⏰ The U.S and China Finally Reached a TikTok Agreement
Just ahead of its Wednesday deadline, the U.S and TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, agreed to an outline of a deal that would resolve the dispute over who owns the app. The framework agreement had been reached after the negotiations that would allow the app to keep running in the states. While specific details have not yet been disclosed, it has been confirmed that the commercial terms have been agreed upon. (Quartz)
6. ⚖️ Google is Facing (Another) Lawsuit
I hope they keep their lawyers on call at all times. The owner of Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Variety sued Google last week, alleging that its AI Overview uses its journalism without consent, affecting traffic to its websites as a result. This marks the first time a major US publisher has taken Google to court over its AI-generated summaries that appear at the top of each search. The lawsuit alleged that about 20% of Google searches that link to its sites now show AI Overviews. (CNN)
7. 🪙 PayPal is Planning on Supporting Crypto Soon
PayPal is rolling out a new way for users to send money to one another. PayPal Links are personalized, one-time links and are an extension of “PayPal Me,” the company’s feature that allows you to share your profile information easily with friends. PayPal Links now allow customers to either request or make a payment to another person by selecting the link option, inputting the amount owed, and then copying the link into a conversation. This new feature will soon support crypto, allowing users to send Bitcoin, Ethereum, PYUSD, and others. (Tech Crunch)
