What you missed today

Good evening!

Owning a generator is a good idea, but apparently, so is owning stock in generators.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  🧑‍⚖️ Google’s Android App Store Is An Illegal Monopoly

Today, Judge James Donato issued his final ruling in the Epic v. Google lawsuit: Google’s Android app store is an illegal monopoly. Google will have to distribute rival third-party app stores within Google Play and give rival app stores access to the full catalog of Google Play apps unless developers opt out individually.

2.  📚 Fact: You'll Learn More About Marketing For $9/mo Than You Would A $200,000 Marketing Degree

3. 🔋 Generac Shares Surged More Than 8%

Hurricane Milton is bad news for most people except Generac shareholders. Shares of the backup power generation company surged more than 8% on Monday as Hurricane Milton has strengthened into a Category 5 storm with plans to approach the west coast of Florida on Wednesday.

5. 🍔 McDonald’s Is Suing Tyson Foods

McDonald’s has filed a lawsuit against Tyson Foods, JBS, and other major meat processing companies. The lawsuit alleges that the companies colluded for years to limit beef supplies, boosting their profits while forcing McD’s to pay inflated prices for meat.

6.  🛒 Sam’s Club Tests A Future Without Checkout Lines

Amazon Fresh couldn’t do it, but maybe Sam’s Club can? The Walmart-owned membership club is opening up its first all-digital store in Grapevine, Texas. The club, opening in mid-October, will require customers to use an app called Scan & Go to ring up purchases as they walk through the aisles in lieu of checkout lanes.

7.  🍰 Skimpflation Hits Whole Foods’ Cakes

Ask TikTok users how skimpflation is affecting them and they’ll probably tell you about Whole Foods’ iconic Berry Chantilly Cake. In late September, Whole Foods announced it was standardizing the cake across its more than 500 stores. But fans of the cake say it’s a variation of shrinkflation and inflation, with subtle tweaks to cut on costs.

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day

I know most of you here are in the U.S., which begs the question: have you considered expanding your GTM beyond North America? And even if you’re not based in North America, these tips can help any leader decide whether it’s time to go global.
