Patrick James, the CEO of First Brands Group, retired today in the midst of questions over its accounting practices. The auto parts supplier is seeking bankruptcy protection after the Justice Department reportedly opened an investigation against the company, which acknowledges that $2 billion is unaccounted for after raising billions through off-balance-sheet financing. The company owes over $10 billion to some of Wall Street’s biggest firms. (Bloomberg)

The customer relations manager platform announced the latest version of its AI agent platform, Agentforce 360. The newer version includes new ways to instruct AI agents through text, a new platform to build and deploy agents, and new infrastructure for the messaging app Slack. Reps from Amazon announced today that they’re looking to hire a quarter of a million employees ahead of the holiday season. They’ve kept this hiring number the same for the last two years, but this goal makes Amazon a standout in this year’s holiday labor market. Retailers overall are looking at fewer than 500,000 seasonal jobs, the lowest since 2009. The positions include part-time, full-time, and seasonal roles, with temp workers earning an average of $19 an hour. (Bloomberg)
6. 💰Goldman Sachs is Acquiring $7 Billion VC Firm
Goldman Sachs has agreed to acquire Industry Ventures, a venture capital firm with $7 billion in assets. The bank stated that it’ll pay $665 million in cash and equity, and up to $300 million more based on the firm’s future performance through 2030. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026. (CNBC)
7. 🤝 OpenAI Struck Up a Chip Deal with Broadcom
OpenAI just reached another AI infrastructure agreement, this time with global supplier Broadcom. The deal involves Broadcom producing AI semiconductors capable of consuming 10 gigawatts of energy. But the twist is that OpenAI will design the chips itself, another step towards autonomy for the AI startup. (Reuters)
