German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp Stell has announced plans to eliminate 11,000 jobs by the end of the decade – roughly 40% of its workforce. It’s the latest blow to Europe’s manufacturing economy which has faced competition from Chinese rivals. (CNN Business)
6. 🛍️ Kohl’s CEO Is Stepping Down
Big shakeup in retail today – department store Kohl’s CEO Tom Kingsbury announced his plans to step down starting January 15. He will be replaced by crafting retailer Michaels CEO Ashley Buchanan. (CNBC)
7. 🦾 Anthropic Is Connecting AI Directly To Datasets
Anthropic just released a new open-source tool to connect AI assistants direct to the information they need to inform their responses or carry out tasks. The new Model Context Protocol (MCP) adds a universal connection to all sorts of data sources to help improve performance. (The Verge)
