Good evening!

It’s always a bittersweet day when a beloved OG service shuts down. RIP Skype.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1. 🎛️ OpenAI Will Continue to Be Controlled By a Nonprofit

In case you didn’t know, OpenAI was founded as a nonprofit lab in 2015. Now, amidst legal scrutiny and public criticism, the ChatGPT-maker says it will maintain its nonprofit governance even as it restructures into a public benefit corporation. (CNBC)

2. 👀 Want More Leads?

98% of your market isn’t ready to buy today. But when they are, will they think of you?

That’s why I’ve built Max’s Lead Ads Funnel… a system that ensures your brand stays top-of-mind 11 times before your buyers are ready.

We’re helping SaaS and B2B service businesses turn cold prospects into pre-sold leads and pack their calendars with sales calls that actually close.

In just 45 days we now have a dozen positive testimonials because it works so damn well, so damn fast.

3. 😬 Google Accidentally Leaked its New Android Design Language

Oops. Google is planning to unveil a new version of its Android design language, Material 3 Expressive, at its upcoming I/O developer conference… but today, it accidentally published (and quickly deleted) a blog post showcasing the “most-researched update to Google’s design system, ever.” (9to5Google)

5. 🧑‍🏭 Rivian is Getting $16M From Illinois to Build a New Supplier Park

Illinois really wants EV manufacturer Rivian to call its state home. So much so that it’s giving the company $16 million of in-state incentives to help construct a 1.2 million-square foot supplier park near its EV manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois (real name, we swear). Rivian will invest nearly $120 million towards the project, which is expected to directly create about 100 new jobs. (The Verge)

6. 🎥 Skype Shut Down After 23 Years

RIP to the original video calling platform. Microsoft officially retired Skype today, concluding the platform’s 23-year run as a pioneer in internet-based communication. While we bid farewell to the blue bubble, the platform’s tools live on through Microsoft Teams’ collaboration features. (TechCrunch)

7. 💬 Slack’s ‘Later’ Tab Had an Outage

If you had troubles accessing your ‘Later’ tab on Slack today, you’re not alone. The workplace messaging app encountered an issue around 1pm ET that created trouble for users switching from the ‘In Progress’ tab to ‘Archived’ or ‘Completed,’ as well as some items missing from these tabs. All seems to be back to normal now. (The Verge)
