1.  🌧️ Hurricane Debby Hit Southern U.S.

Hurricane Debby officially made landfall in North and Central Florida this morning as a Category 1 hurricane with 80 mph winds, but has since been downgraded to a tropical storm. That doesn’t mean Debby is friendly, though—she’s caused the cancellation of a fifth of the scheduled departures at Orlando, Tampa, and Miami airports.

3. 📉 Global Stock Markets Plunged

This can’t be good. The Dow fell 1,051 points (2.6%) today while the S&P 500 declined 3.3% and the Nasdaq was down 4.1%. Japanese stocks suffered their biggest loss since 1987, with the Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo down more than 12%. The US Dollar index was also down to an eight-month low of 102.18.

5. 👨‍⚖️ Elon Musk is Suing OpenAI & Sam Altman

Elon Musk filed a new lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, today, accusing the ChatGPT maker of abandoning its original nonprofit mission to save its most advanced AI tech for private customers and engaging in racketeering activity.

6.  🚨 Google Lost U.S. Antitrust Lawsuit

Ok Google, what’s the verdict? Well, history was made today as the tech giant was found guilty of violating antitrust law by dominating online search. District Judge Amit Mehta said in the opinion that Google is a monopolist and violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act to maintain its monopoly.

7.  🍫 Snickers and Pringles May Merge

The snack food industry may get a major sweet and salty shake-up soon. The Wall Street Journal reported that candy king Mars is looking to acquire Pringles maker Kellanova. The potential merger could place Kellanova’s valuation at roughly $30 billion, with a typical deal takeover premium. Sounds delicious.
