Good evening!
AI companies are getting a bit unruly, it seems.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🤫 OpenAI is Teasing a GPT-5 Release
Spoiler alert: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman teased GPT-5 in a post on X yesterday with an example of its chatbot answering a casual question. Experts are guessing the new GPT will be launched on a Thursday this month. (The Verge)
2. 😵 Tired of Getting Burned By Mediocre Marketers?
Our friends over at MarketerHire have done the leg work of sifting through tens of thousands of marketers to ensure you get matched up with actual pros... you know? The kind who’ve actually scaled budgets, cracked CAC, and built funnels that convert.
I trust them and so do 6,000+ companies.
This month only: $2,000 hiring credit + 2-week trial for our audience.
3. 💬 Apple is Working on a Stripped-Down ChatGPT Competitor
Apple’s not giving up the AI race yet. According to Bloomberg, the company created a team called “Answers, Knowledge, and Information” earlier this year to develop a “stripped-down rival to ChatGPT” – a major change from when the company partnered with OpenAI in 2014 to infuse Siri with ChatGPT. (Engadget)
4. 💸 Cut Costs Without Cutting Quality
The average U.S. video editor salary? $85,000/year. The average Edit Hunter video editor? $12k-24k/year.
Elite video editors, trained and based in the Philippines, placed directly into your team, fast!
No long-term contracts. No crazy markups. Just elite dependable editing talent, ready to scale your content production without draining your budget.
The best part? Edit Hunter has already matched over 4,700 editors with U.S. agencies and brands alike, saving them millions! They know exactly what to look for.
5. 😬 Perplexity Might Be Scraping Websites That Blocked AI Scraping
Internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare is accusing AI startup Perplexity of crawling and scraping content from websites that have explicitly indicated they don’t want to be scraped… even with receipts saying it observed the AI startup ignoring blocks and hiding its crawling and scraping activities. (TechCrunch)
6. 🎙️ Amazon is Laying Off 100 Employees in Wondery Division
Amazon is laying off roughly 110 employees in its Wondery podcast division and the head of the group is leaving as part of a broader reshuffling of the company’s audio unit. That said, they’re not shutting down Wondery, just reassigning it to its Audible audiobook and podcasting division. (CNBC)
7. 🚗 You Can Now Buy a Used Car on Amazon
If you live in Los Angeles, you might be able to get a used car on Prime soon. The eCommerce giant is expanding its Autos business to include used and certified pre-owned vehicles, allowing dealers to list their inventory on Amazon. (The Verge)
