1. 📉 Dow Fell Nearly 350 Points

The market fell immediately at open today, but then stocks mounted a short-lived rally in the afternoon after rumors of a tariff pause circulated on social media. Stocks proceeded to fall back when the rumors were denied, eventually landing the Dow Jones at -0.91%, S&P 500 at -0.23%, and the Nasdaq at 0.10%. (CNBC)

5. 🇺🇸 BlackRock CEO Thinks the U.S. is in a Recession Now
At a recent event for the Economic Club of New York, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said that, “Most CEOs I talk to would say we are probably in a recession right now.” The asset management executive also said that the new tariff policies could put upward pressure on inflation and make it difficult for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates like it often does during recessions. Google is bringing multimodal search to AI Mode, its Google Search experiment that lets users ask complex questions about topics. Users can now ask questions about photos they’ve uploaded or taken with their camera, powered by Google Lens’ multimodal capabilities. (TechCrunch)
7. 🤖 Shopify’s CEO Wants Teams to Consider AI Before Hiring More
In a recent memo to employees, Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke announced a bold new policy change: teams must demonstrate why AI can’t perform a job before they’re permitted to ask for more headcount and resources. The move follows Shopify’s layoffs of many in its customer service division in January and 20% of its staff in 2023. (TechCrunch)
