Good evening!
We finally have answers to why Monday’s AWS chaos happened, so let’s hope this upcoming Monday is a bit quieter.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. ☁️ OpenAI Bought an AI Interface for Mac
Skies are looking clear for OpenAI with its newest acquisition of Software Applications, Inc. – the makers of Sky, an AI-powered natural language interface for Mac computers. The (not publicly available) software tool works alongside users throughout the day and can take action in apps. (TechCrunch)
2. ✨ Custom AI Solutions Improve Business Outcomes
AI is more than just a chat tool. Tight custom integrations into your website, mobile app, or software will determine the future of customer interaction. But how can you decide where to modernize and integrate AI?
That’s where Wonderment comes in. With experience integrating custom AI solutions for 100+ projects since 2016, their team will:
Integrate any LLM to your site (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, & more)
Provide solutions that open up access to image & video generation, language AI, & predictive tools
Integrate deep learning processes to retain users
Learn how you can plug any AI model into your website or app using a commercial-grade AI integration that puts you in the driver’s seat.
3. 🪲 Amazon’s AWS Outage Was Caused by Automation Bug
Amazon’s pointing the finger for Monday’s major AWS outage at a bug in its automation software DynamoDB, where its customers store their data. The company published a lengthy report explaining the bug that triggered more issues in other systems relying on the software. (Engadget)
4. 🌟 AI Briefings are the New Standard for C-Suite Productivity
Executives spend 10+ hours each week chasing the details – scrolling inboxes, scanning LinkedIn, digging up old notes.
Ambient’s Daily Briefing fixes it in 15 seconds. Their AI agent pulls everything you need and delivers a presidential-style daily brief before your first coffee. Show up sharp, save hours.
5. 📺 AI is Making Mondelez’s TV Ads Next Year
Could AI recreate the iconic Oreo Super Bowl blackout moment? We’re about to find out. Snacking giant (and Oreo parent) Mondelez is using generative AI to slash marketing costs including releasing AI-generated TV ads next year. While the company has spent over $40M on an AI video tool, its leadership claims the expense is half of usual production costs. (The Verge)
6. 😬 YouTube TV Might Lose ESPN & ABC
Bad news for fans of sports and Dancing With The Stars. If Disney and YouTube don’t agree to a new distribution agreement, YouTube TV subscribers will lose access to the company’s networks – including ABC and ESPN – on October 30 at 11:59pm ET. Yesterday, Disney began running public messages alerting customers about the impending change. (CNBC)
7. 🎯 Target Had its First Major Layoffs in a Decade
After four years of roughly stagnant sales, Target is cutting 1,800 corporate jobs – the first major round of layoffs in a decade for the retailer. The eliminated roles represent approximately 8% of Target’s corporate workforce and includes about 800 positions that will no longer be filled. (CNBC)
