What you missed today

Good evening!

Lots of people leaving companies, joining companies, getting moved around at companies…

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  💊 CVS Named A New CEO

America’s largest drug store chain just named a new CEO. The company’s previous CEO Karen Lynch is being replaced by longtime CVS Health executive David Joyner due to dwindling performance and poor stock performance (a nearly 20% drop just this year).

2.  🤯 How Bryan Harris Landed $35K in 8 Days Without Ads

Forget expensive ads! Bryan Harris recently landed 7 high-ticket clients worth over $35,000 in just 8 days. How? He used a simple zero-ads strategy by borrowing other people’s audiences.

Now, you can learn the same process. On October 23rd at 3pm CT, I’m hosting a free Land $10,000 Agency Clients w/ Zero Ads masterclass with Bryan, where he’ll reveal his strategy for growing an agency without running a single ad. Get access to landing pages, email templates, and the real numbers behind his success.

3. 🏚️ Stellantis Is Closing & Selling Its Large Vehicle Test Facility

Automaker Stellantis announced plans to shutter and sell its large vehicle proving grounds in Arizona at the end of this year. It’s the latest cost-cutting measure by company that has been under pressure from Wall Street, dealers, and the United Auto Workers. The grounds cover 4,000 acres between Phoenix and Las Vegas and has been used for vehicle testing and development since 2007.

5. 🚂 Port of LA Freight Delays Hit A 2-Year High

Well, that can’t be good. As holiday goods and everyday items hit record import levels, West Coast ports are seeing congestion on the rails. Almost half of the containers set for freight rale out of the Port of Los Angeles are waiting nine-plus days to get out of the port and onto the rail – a wait that usually averages around four days.

6. 😬 23andMe Still Has No Board

Here’s a horror story for you: all seven members of 23andMe’s board resigned on the same day back in September. But in her first on-the-record interview since the mass resignation, CEO Anne Wojcicki is still cautiously optimistic about the company’s future saying that they, “can navigate and land this plane, but it is absolutely complicated.”

7.  ☕️ Starbucks Appointed Chipotle Exec As Global Chief Brand Officer

The Chipotle to Starbucks pipeline is pretty strong these days. The coffee company has appointed Chipotle alum Tressie Lieberman as its new Global Chief Brand Officer, a newly created position under CEO Brian Niccol. Niccol created a similar global chief brand officer role at Chipotle when he took over in 2018 (though not to Lieberman).

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day

Here’s your weekend long-read: annual planning doesn’t have to suck (at least not as much as you might think it does). Here’s how startups at any stage can build effective, realistic plans.
