What you missed today

Good evening!

It’s always fun to think about the domino effect of new products – like how the popularity of GLP-1 medications can cause headaches for other industries.

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  🚕 Tesla Revealed The (Underwhelming) Cybercab

Whatever shareholders were anticipating for Tesla’s Cybercab… wasn’t this. CEO Elon Musk unveiled the new self-driving concept car at the company’s “We, Robot” event last night. The two-seater car has no steering wheels or pedals and will ideally be in production before 2027. The event did fail to deliver on real growth endeavors or improvement in the system, leading shares to drop 8%.

2.  🤩 How To Get Way More Business Opportunities

Building a powerful personal brand on Twitter & LinkedIn requires more than engaging content. You need distribution too! BIG FISH gives your personal brand that 1 - 2 content & distribution punch you won't find anywhere else, ensuring you become the influencer your industry needs.

3. 🧡 HubSpot Acquired Cacheflow

Cacheflow, a startup building tools for the software sales closing process, has been acquired by HubSpot for an undisclosed amount. Once the deal closes, Cacheflow will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of HubSpot and will expand the company’s Commerce Hub suite of subscription management and CPQ tools.

5. 🏪 7-Eleven Is Closing More Than 400 Locations

444 underperforming locations of 7-Eleven are shutting down for… a variety of issues. Sales are slowing, traffic is declining, inflation is putting pressure on stores, and there’s a nationwide decrease in cigarette purchases – a historically large sales category for convenience stores.

6. 👶 Fisher-Price Recalled 2M+ Infant Swings

Fisher-Price is recalling more than 2 million units of its infant Snuga Swings due to a suffocation risk after five children died sleeping in the device. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an alert that the $160 device “should never be used for sleep and bedding materials should never be added to it.”

7.  👰‍♀️ GLP-1s Are Throwing A Wrench In The Wedding Dress Industry

Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications are complicating the business of buying and altering wedding gowns. Experts suggest buying a wedding dress 8-10 months before the event, allowing time for shipping delays and alterations. But that’s getting difficult for people with major body changes due to GLP-1 medications.

Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day

Inertia is the default mode of most companies, but don’t rush too much – you might miss the non-obvious behaviors that could kill your startup.
