What you missed today

Good evening!

I imagine running a budget airline is great and all until you get fined 179M euro ($186M).

Here are the 7 things you missed today:

1.  đŸ’° Amazon Is Investing (Another) $4Bn In Anthropic

TL;DR: Amazon really wants to take down OpenAI. The tech giant announced today that it’s investing an additional $4 billion in Anthropic, the AI startup founded by ex-OpenAI execs, bringing Amazon’s total investment in the company to $8 billion. AWS will also become Anthropic’s “primary cloud and training partner.”

Why you should care: Every tech giant wants a part of the AI pie, and this additional investment from Amazon could make Anthropic’s Claude AI an more even competitor against OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

2. âš ïž You're Losing Money If Your CPL Is More Than $1

Most publishers think new subscribers are pricey. Worse, too many are zero-value subscribers who open once without clicking, and then are gone.

What if you could bring in real, loyal readers for under $1 each?

TrafficGrid’s program does just that, matching you with highly engaged US subscribers who are eager for your content. Their clients get open rates of above 40%!

TrafficGrid is accepting new publishers who qualify for their program. You need 15k active subscribers to qualify and make your CPL instantly affordable.

3. 📡 DirecTV Cancelled Dish Merger

TL;DR: US satellite TV provider DirecTV has terminated its agreement to acquire Echostar’s satellite television business, which includes its rival Dish TV, due to the proposed exchange terms.

Why you should care: This deal would’ve been a major deal for TV distributors and, in turn, TV ad buyers. Depending on how you look at it, it’s either a huge loss or a saving grace.

4.  đŸ”„ Black Friday is the best chance to boost your profits this year

But without ads that convert, you’re wasting your time. Instead of spending hours, use Creative OS to get 2,000+ proven ad, email, and landing page templates. Just pick a template, paste it into Canva/Figma, and edit it to fit your brand image.

5. 🚗 Hyundai and Kia Recalled 208k EVs

TL;DR: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are recalling about 208,000 electric vehicles in the US due to an issue that could cause the vehicles to suddenly lose power.

Why you should care: That’s a lot of inconvenienced EV owners and dealers, which are already having a tough time as is with the dwindling market. This recall combined with the proposed removal of the EV tax credit are the bad news the industry doesn’t need.

6. đŸ„© 160k+ Pounds Of Beef Are Being Recalled

TL;DR: Speaking of recalls, the USDA recalled more than 165,000 pounds of ground beef nationwide due to possible E. coli contamination at Detroit, Michigan-based Wolverine Packing Co.

Why you should care: We all saw the impact of the E. coli outbreak at McDonalds – something the company is still working to recover from. Restaurants and affected vendors should be mindful of response times and reactions in these recalls.

7.  đŸ›©ïž European Regulators Are Fining Budget Airlines

TL;DR: Five budget airlines, including Ryanair and easyJet, were fined a total of 179 million euro by Spain’s Consumer Rights Ministry for their “abusive practices,” including charging extra for additional luggage.

Why you should care: Government regulatory groups across the world are finally going after companies for misleading advertising and processes that take advantage of consumers, and the fines aren’t cheap.
