2. 💼 U.S. Unemployment Rate Rose to 3.9%
The U.S. economy added 175,000 jobs last month, with the unemployment rate rising to 3.9% from last month’s 3.8% (with 235,000 added jobs). As a result, the Dow surged 500 points at the opening bell, dropping a bit mid-morning.
3. 📱 Apple Made History With Buybacks
Shares of Apple stock surged today after the company reported better-than-expected Q2 earnings and its largest-ever stock buyback program. The buybacks, including $110 billion of its shares, is the biggest buyback in U.S. history.

4. 🚫 Andy Jassy Broke Labor Laws
The National Labor Relations Board found that Amazon CEO Andy Jazzy violated labor laws in making “coercive statements” about unions during interviews in 2022 saying workers are “better off” without a union.
5. 🙁 Sprinklr Laid Off 3% of Workforce
Enterprise customer experience management platform Sprinklr laid off about 3% of its workforce, or ~116 people, to rethink its customer operations team. These layoffs come a year after Sprinklr cut 4% of its headcount.
