Google’s losing some high profile talent. Senior research scientist John Jumper is leaving Google DeepMind to join AI startup Anthropic. Jumper’s departure comes just days after Noam Shazeer, VP of Engineering at Google and Co-Lead of its Gemini AI models, said he would leave the company to join IPO-bound OpenAI. (CNBC)

Deductive AI, a startup that uses AI to catch and resolve bugs in software, has agreed to be sold to enterprise software company Elastic for up to $85 million. Deductive, founded in 2023, came out in stealth last November when it announced a $7.5 million seed round led by CRV at a valuation of $33 million. (TechCrunch)

Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank) has apparently told some employees working in its financial crimes and risk management team that it would run software to track their work, prompting questions around consent and privacy in the workplace. The program will track the time employees spend on browsers and internal chat and meeting applications. (Reuters)
