Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has raised $15 billion to bolster bets across an array of areas including infrastructure, health and what co-founder Ben Horowitz calls “American Dynamism.” The bulk of the capital, $6.75 billion, will go toward a growth fund and two $1.7 billion funds, with one focused on apps and the other on infrastructure. 5. 🛡️ Data Security Startup Cyera Hit $9Bn Valuation
Just six months after its previous $540 million round at a $6 billion valuation. The data security startup announced a $400 million Series F funding round at a $9 billion valuation. The New York-based company has now raised over $1.7 billion. (TechCrunch)
6. ⚡️ OpenAI and SoftBank Are Investing $1Bn in SB Energy
OpenAI and SoftBank announced plans to invest $1 billion in SB Energy as part of a strategic partnership that will support OpenAI’s artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout. The partnership is part of the $500 billion Stargate commitment between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle and will result in SB Energy building and operating OpenAI’s 1.2 gigawatt data center site in Texas. 7. ☢️ Meta Agreed to Buy 6.6GW of Nuclear Power
Meta might be one of the largest corporate buyers of nuclear power in American history. The tech giant just signed a series of multi-gigawatt nuclear energy contracts to power its sprawling network of artificial intelligence data centers that could supply more than 6 gigawatts of electricity – enough to power a city of roughly 5 million homes.
