Good evening!
What’s that old saying? When one tech service shuts down, another one launches?
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🪦 Microsoft is Shutting Down Skype
Video calling and messaging service Skype is now old enough to order a drink in the U.S. but it won’t get the time to. Microsoft announced today that the 21-year-old calling and messaging service will shut down on May 5. Users are encouraged to move to Microsoft’s free Teams app. (CNBC)
2. 👷 Do you suffer from a dry pipeline?
Instead of wasting ad spend forcing cold leads into sales calls, we can attract high-quality leads and qualify them upfront.
The ones ready to buy? They go straight to your sales team/Calendly page to book a call. The rest get warmed up with valuable content until they’re ready to buy.
That's what My Lead Ads Funnel does. This way, when the ones who were not ready to buy on signup start actively looking to buy what you are selling, they come to you pre-sold without talking to any other competitors.
3. 🖼️ Bluesky-Based Instagram Alternative Flashes Launched Publicly
Instagram alternative Flashes publicly launched its Bluesky-based photo-sharing app on the App Store this week with nearly 30,000 downloads in its first 24 hours. The app is similar to the classic Instagram experience and allows users to upload up to four photos and videos of up to a minute in length. (TechCrunch)
4. 📖 Experts Break Down The StoryBrand Formula
Every good story has a hero–in your website’s case, that should be your customer.
The biggest takeaway from the book “Building a StoryBrand” by Donald Miller was the importance of crafting website copy that reads like a story. Business Builders created a free (!) 5-part video series that shows you exactly how to put the StoryBrand framework into action.

5. 🪙 Meme Coins Aren’t Securities, According to SEC
The Securities and Exchange Commission issued guidance this week that it doesn’t video most meme coins – aka crypto tokens that originated from memes – as securities under U.S. federal law. As a result, the SEC says it doesn’t believe people who purchase or hold meme coins are protected by federal securities law and they don’t need to register transactions with the Commission. 6. 💼 Google Announced Layoffs in HR & Cloud Units
Google is offering a voluntary exit program to U.S.-based, full-time employees in People Operations, the company’s HR division, starting in early March. As part of a cost-cutting effort, Google will be internally reorganizing and cutting employees in its People Operations and cloud organization. (CNBC)
7. 🛜 American Airlines is Testing Free Inflight Wi-Fi
After many popular airlines have started offering free inflight Wi-Fi, American Airlines is testing the complementary service starting next week. Historically, AA’s Wi-Fi prices have been some of the U.S. industry’s highest, with flight passes often exceeding $20. The tests will be on three flights to start and is unclear if or when AA will expand to its larger network. (CNBC)
