The House of Representatives approved a bipartisan federal spending bill Friday and sent it to the Senate at 5pm ET. If the Senate doesn’t pass the bill before the midnight deadline, the government may have a costly shutdown on its hands that could cause a lot of chaos just a few days before Christmas. (CNBC)

5. 🏦 CFPB Sued JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Zelle
The US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sued the operator of the Zelle payments network and the three US banks responsible for the majority of transactions on it, alleging that the firms failed to properly investigate fraud complaints or give victims reimbursement for over $870 million in losses since Zelle’s launch in 2017. 6. 🪧 Starbucks Workers in 3 Cities are on Strike
Starbucks workers in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Chicago – three of the company’s “most important markets” – are launching pre-Christmas strikes as negotiations over better pay and benefits have stalled. The employees, represented by the Workers United union, are engaging in five days of escalating strikes. (Quartz)
7. 🎈 Party City is Going Out of Business
Sorry to be a party pooper, but US retail chain Party City is closing down all of its stores, ending nearly 40 years in business. CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees today that the company is “winding down operations immediately” and that Friday would be their last day of employment. (CNN)
