What you missed today
Good evening!
Want some good news going into the weekend? Fed Chair Jerome Powell might have some for you.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 🛡️ Microsoft is Planning Cybersecurity Event in September
Microsoft is cleaning up its CrowdStrike mess with a conference planned for September 10 at its Redmond, Washington campus. The event, for cybersecurity firms, will discuss ways the industry can evolve after the massive software update in July caused millions of Windows computers to crash.
2. 💰 Here’s Why Your Web Traffic Isn’t Increasing:
Can I be honest? When running my marketing agency, I used to struggle with SEO. I invested in strategies that promised quick wins, but left me with little to show for it. If you're in the same boat, let me share what I've learned: the secret to SEO success is focusing on high-impact strategies with strategists that don't make quick promises.
North Star Inbound is the team you need. Their senior SEO strategists don't just design your strategy; they dive into execution to ensure exceptional results.
A gaming brand increased their traffic value from $100,000 to $3.5M in just 8 months with NSI.
3. 🤞 Federal Interest Rate Cuts Are On The Way
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell set the stage in a speech today at the Jackson Hole conference for interest rate cuts soon, though he didn’t provide exact timing or the extent of the cuts.

5. 🚚 Are Amazon Drivers Employees?
According to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), yes. According to Amazon, no, delivery service partners (DSPs) exclusively employ the delivery drivers (not Amazon). This groundbreaking decision could lead to further bargaining discussions between Amazon and delivery drivers.
6. 👋 Delta’s COO Mike Spanos is Out
Just weeks after the CrowdStrike outage paralyzed Delta Air Lines as the slowest recovery of any airline, its Chief Operating Officer Mike Spanos is leaving the company. Delta said his decision to leave was unrelated to the outage, but Spanos had only been in the role for a year with no aviation experience before taking the role.
7. 🚲 Peloton is Charging Extra For Used Equipment
Peloton is starting to catch on that a lot of people are selling their old bikes and treadmills on secondhand markets. The fitness company announced plans to begin charging users a one-time $95 “used equipment activation fee” for used bikes purchased outside of Peloton and its official distribution partners.
