What you missed today
Good evening!
Might have to go to McDonald’s for the first time in several years… feeling a bit of FOMO with their most recent campaign.
Here are the 7 things you missed today:
1. 💰 Berkshire Hathaway Invested in Ulta & Heico
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway now owns about 690,000 shares in cosmetics store chain Ulta Beauty worth $266.3M and 1.04 million shares in aircraft parts maker Heico worth $185.4M. This comes after Berkshire halved its huge stake in Apple.
2. 📈 Are You STILL Sleeping on LinkedIn?
Even though it’s THE most powerful place for Founders & CEOs to build personal brands.
Bad news: it takes a gigantic amount of work to create effective content on LinkedIn.
Good news: there are services that will do it for you.
But who? Playbookz is a premium ghostwriting service for LinkedIn that helps Founders build ultra-powerful personal brands they can leverage for life. They do it 100% on autopilot & guarantee 100k+ reach in the first six months, or they work for free.
3. 📉 X Ad Revenue Has Dropped 24%
Advertisers only spent $744M on X during the first six months of 2024 – a 24% drop from the more than $982M advertisers spent on the platform in H1 of 2023. That’s a pretty big problem since ads make up about 90% of the company’s income.
4. 🛠️ Things Worth Checking Out
Need a new innovative marketing strategy? Imagine reaching your customers for $0 instead of paying Facebook & Google thousands. That's what The Newsletter Team will help you do! AKA build a newsletter you can use to better engage & convert past, present, and future customers here →
5. 📺 Judge Blocked Venu Sports Streaming
Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox have teamed up to launch their sports streaming service, Venu. But a U.S. judge has other plans, as they placed a temporary injunction in response to a lawsuit by Fubo TV raising antitrust concerns.
6. 🥤 McDonald’s New Collectors Meals Are a Hot Item
Turns out, adults really love Happy Meals. McDonald’s leaned into nostalgia in launching its new ‘Collector’s Meal’ this week, which includes a Big Mac, fries, a small drink, and a collectible cup. The cups are reselling on eBay and Mercari for as much as $100 each.
7. 📦 Ikea is Hiring Warehouse Drones
Ikea announced it’s bringing its stock-counting drone system to the U.S. with autonomous drones working alongside workers in its Perryville, Maryland warehouse. The Verity-branded drones (unfortunately, no fun Swedish name here) operate on a new AI-powered system that allows them to safely fly around human workers 24/7.
Bonus. CEO Tip Of The Day
While some people are eager to adopt AI, others are feeling the effects of AI burnout – the overwhelming pressure to upskill and adapt to AI tools. Here’s how you can prevent it at your organization.
